Mumbai Airport Revised Guidelines June 2021. The governing civic body of Mumbai, BMC. recently issues revised travel guidelines for domestic passengers arriving at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai.
As per the updated travel guidelines, all domestic air passengers arriving from airports located within Maharashtra to Mumbai will no longer be required to produce a negative RT-PCR test upon arrival in Mumbai airport.
Apparently, for all those domestic air passengers traveling from Mumbai airport to airports located within Maharashtra, airport operators/airlines shall not insist on an RT-PCR test report or certificate.
All passengers traveling from other states in India to Maharashtra still need to carry a negative RT-PCR test report issued within 48 hrs. prior to arrival.
The decision was made since the daily COVID 19 cases in the state is gradually decreasing.
In May 2021, Mumbai airport had issued an official statement making it mandatory for all domestic passengers arriving in the city to submit a negative RT-PCR Covid test certificate at the time of boarding. The RT-PCR sample collection should have been done within 48 hours of the scheduled time of landing of the flight at the Mumbai airport. Passengers without valid RT-PCR test reports were not allowed to board flights.
Despite the lockdown extension in Maharashtra, the civic body and airport officials have eased certain travel restrictions to make the travel smooth for travellers within the state.
