Travel Techies is at Pahalgam Kashmir, in one of the must visit place in Kashmir/Pahalgam the Chandanwari aka Chandanwadi. It is truly a Heaven on Earth(Jannat) with the snow filled mountains and valleys. The place is also known as Mini Switzerland. This is the 10th Episode(Ep #10) of the Kashmir Winter Trip Series Kerala to Kashmir by Travel Techies.
After a visit to Betaab Valley in Kashmir, we headed towards Chandanwari(Chandanwadi) in Pahalgam. The place is fully covered with snow and since it is the time winter is switching to spring, we could see some small waterfalls and snow melting. The time we visited the road was blocked due to snowfall and some work was being done. So we could ot go on top till Chandanwari. However the view point before reaching the place is great and we had a great time there which being our last snow Experience as well.
Chandanwari in Pahalgam is known to be famous for being the base, or starting point, to the famous Hindu pilgrimage site, Shri Amarnath Yatra, which starts in June and ends in August. It is situated at an elevation of 2,895 meters from the sea level, and located about 16 kilometers from Pahalgam. Pahalgam is accessible easily by road and taxis are available at all times. If you are looking for an awesome tourist place in Jammu and Kashmir where you can relax in the beauty of nature, then you must visit this place. It is blessed with picturesque beauty, with the Lidder River flowing closeby, and is famous for its sightseeing opportunities, as it is surrounded by snowcapped mountains. Chandanwari is covered in snow from November till May, and you can watch the lovely sight of glaciers melting in the Lidder River. Blessed with natural beauty, the valley of Chandanwari never fails to draw lakhs of pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra, who embarked on the sacred journey in the Shravan month as per the Hindu calendar, i.e. in between the months of July and August.
Best Time to Visit Chandanwari Pahalgam Kashmir The best time to visit Chandanwari, Pahalgam, Kashmir is from March to April if you want to experience the snow. However, since it is the base/starting point for Amarnath Yatra, you will be visiting it whenever you are planning to do the yatra from June to August. During this time only the Amarnath Yatra is open.
How to Reach Chandanwari in Kashmir ? Chandanwari is located almost 15 kilometers from Pahalgam, and it takes around 30 minutes to reach it by road. Taxis are available most of the time to reach Chandanwari at nominal rates.
