The dish which was a famous breakfast item in houses during olden times. The Fermented rice, commonly known as “Pazham Kanji” in Malayalam was a traditional breakfast among the Keralites. This simple dish is nothing but rice (left over) soaked in water overnight; for more than 12 hrs in earthen clay pots. Its kept at room temperature and the rice gets fermented by next morning. Even though you can find a lot of Pazhamkanji kada or restaurants across Trivandrum, Mooppilans Kitchen is the authentic one which was first started and the one majority of the people prefer.
If you want the best pazhamkanji(pazhankanji) in Trivandrum, come to this restaurant. But please come before 1 pm if you want to taste the yummy fish fry along with it. We missed it since we reached there by 2pm. Definitely worth trying. A stomach full meal at just Rupees 90. The places will always have some customers and gets crowded during peak time – 12-1pm. It is in Killipalam at Bund Road near to PRS Hospital.
